Dynamo Sungul

Bronze at national level is the high point Dynamo Sungul can point to, and it came before the club carried that name at all: in the 2011/2012 season, playing as Sungul, the Snezhinsk side finished third in the Russian Superleague. In the 2019/2020 season, under different circumstances, the same city's team won the Higher League to earn its way back up.

The club as it now stands dates to 2021, when Sungul merged with Dynamo Chelyabinsk. Handball people there have long called the team Robin Hood, a name earned less by silverware than by a habit of turning matches against stronger sides on its head without warning.

The rivalry that matters most is with Permskie Medvedi, played out as the Ural Derby. Among the players who have worn the club's orange and turquoise, Alexey Usachkov stands out for a different kind of medal: a World Student Championship title in 2005, won before the merger that created today's club. Pavel Arkatov and Aleksandr Arkatov , the latter on loan from Zenit, are part of the current squad chasing further ground in the Superleague.

Cup form has stopped short so far. Dynamo Sungul reached the quarter-finals of the Russian Cup in 2021/2022 and again in 2023/2024.
