Ealing Trailfinders

Vallis Way sits in West Ealing, and the ground beneath it has room for around 5,000 people, roughly 2,200 of them seated. Ealing Trailfinders moved there in 1999, the same year the travel agency Trailfinders bought the club.

What that money has built is a side that keeps winning the RFU Championship and keeps being told it cannot go up. The club took the league title in 2021–22, 2023–24 and 2024–25, and each time the Premiership's ground-capacity rules have kept promotion out of reach. Barney Maddison captained the team to that first of the three titles.

Cup silverware has come more freely. Ealing beat Leinster 'A' 22–7 to win the British and Irish Cup in 2017–18, then took the RFU Championship Cup three times before the competition was discontinued after 2022–23. Further back, before the club had settled at Vallis Way, there were league titles at National League 1 and National League 2 South level.

The rivalry with Richmond RFC still gets called the local derby, and the women's team, the Emeralds, play their rugby in the Allianz Premier 15s under the same green and white.

None of it traces back further than 1869, when the side that would become Ealing Trailfinders played its first match as Ealing Football Club, one of the clubs present at the founding of the Rugby Football Union.
