Hartpury University
Club · United Kingdom · Greene King IPA Championship
«The Red & Blacks»
It grew out of an academy set up in 2000 in partnership with Gloucester Rugby, and by 2004 that pipeline had turned into a club of its own, playing then as Hartpury College RFC before the institution's rebrand in 2018 left it as Hartpury University RFC.
The National Division Three South West title in 2011 and National Division Two South in 2014 kept the pattern going, and in 2017 National League 1 delivered promotion into the RFU Championship, the level the club had been building toward since those first academy sessions.
The academy has done more for Hartpury's name than any trophy. Ellis Genge and Louis Rees-Zammit both passed through it on their way to full international rugby.
Hartpury Stadium has never needed replacing or relocating; the ground has stayed part of the college site since the club's first season there. It holds 2,000.
