The team playing under the name FC Elva today did not start out in Elva at all. It was formed on 8 August 2000 in Viljandi, entered its first season as FC Viljandi, and only in 2001 moved south and took the name of the town it has represented since.
The clearest line in that record was written in 2011, when Elva won the III liiga Lõuna group, taking 16 wins from 22 matches. The nearest the club came to Meistriliiga football was in 2022, when it lost the promotion play-off to TJK Legion — then watched Legion turn the spot down over money, with no automatic route for Elva to claim it instead.
Red and white make up the kit, with green for Elva's forests and light blue for its lakes worked into the club's wider colours.
