Hammam-Sousse sits on the Tunisian coast next to Sousse itself, and it is that closeness that shapes almost everything about the football played there: the club exists in the shadow of Étoile du Sahel and in permanent rivalry with neighbouring CS Hammam-Lif, the two towns close enough that fixtures between them carry the weight of a local derby without ever needing a name for it.

Les Espoirs were formed in 1954 and have spent their history moving between Tunisia's first and second divisions rather than settling in either. The high point came in 2007–08, when the club won Ligue 2 and went up to the top flight; a second promotion followed in 2020–21, though that one came the harder way, after losing the playoff final to Hammam-Lif on penalties and going up only as runners-up. The stay in Ligue 1 this time lasted two seasons before relegation at the end of 2022–23 sent them back down.

The club has worked more as a staging post for players than a final destination. Michaïlou Dramé started out at ESHS before Étoile du Sahel picked him up and Burkina Faso capped him; Hamza Lahmar came the other way, arriving on loan from Étoile in 2011–12 and using the spell to establish himself before going on to play for Tunisia. Nigerian forward David Ankeye passed through more recently, leaving for Genoa in 2024.

Matches are played in yellow and black at the Bou Ali Lahouar Stadium, which holds 6,500.
