Faetano

In the summer of 2010, a village side with a ground that holds five hundred people took the field in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa League. Faetano went out in the first qualifying round, but for a club whose league had only existed since the mid-1980s, it remains the only time the club has played beyond the republic's borders.

Faetano is one of the few clubs in the Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio never to have dropped out of the top flight since that league was created in 1985. Faetano topped the inaugural 1985–86 table without losing a match, then beat Tre Fiori in a playoff final to take the title again in 1990–91, and beat Folgore/Falciano by the same scoreline, 1–0, to win it a third time in 1998–99. Runners-up only once, in 1986–87, the club built a similar record in the Coppa Titano, winning it in 1993, 1994 and 1998, the last of those a 4–1 win over Cosmos.

Faetano's fixture with neighbouring Fiorentino, the two towns barely 3.8 kilometres apart, is still known locally as the Derby della Valleggiante. The club's own pitch, the Campo Sportivo di Faetano, seats only 500, so the bigger league occasions are usually shifted to the Stadio Olimpico in Serravalle. The club was founded in 1962, more than two decades before the league it would go on to win three times was even played.
