Fanja

The Sultan Qaboos Cup followed a similar pattern, with seven wins clustered in the same golden run through 1991 and an eighth arriving in 2013–14.

The club grew out of Fanja, a district of the Muscat Governorate, and was registered in 1971. It plays as Al-Malik, "the King," in yellow and black, and shares the Muscat Governorate with Al-Seeb SC and Al-Oruba SC, the two clubs against whom its derbies are played; proximity to Al-Seeb, whose stadium Fanja also uses for home matches, has made that fixture the sharper of the two.

Amad Al-Hosni closed his career at Fanja after spells at Birmingham City and Sporting Charleroi, giving the club a marquee name to put alongside a squad built mostly on local talent such as Basil Al-Rawahi, who came up through its own academy.

The two Omani Super Cups, in 2012 and 2015, sit either side of the club's most recent league title and mark the last period in which Fanja matched its old standard on a regular basis.
