Gżira United

Birkirkara and Floriana sit close enough to Gżira that neither fixture has an agreed name, which has never stopped the clubs in the veterans' game from calling each other arch rivals in print.

The Maroons have spent most of their existence since 1947 in the lower divisions. The trophy list reads accordingly: four Second Division titles, one in the Third, and cups attached to whichever division the club happened to be in that season. The First Division was won in 1963–64 and again in 2015–16, and the FA Trophy came once, in 1972–73.

What the club is now known for abroad happened in July 2019. Hajduk Split arrived for a Europa League qualifier and left level at 3–3 on aggregate, with Gżira going through on away goals after a 3–1 win. On Malta the tie is still referred to as the Hajduk miracle. The club got further than it ever had, eliminating Radnički Niš 5–5 on aggregate and then on penalties to reach the third qualifying round of the Conference League.

Home is the Centenary Stadium, which the Maltese Football Association built in 1999 to mark its own hundredth year and still owns. It holds 3,000.

Birkirkara and Floriana remain the measure.
