Herning Blue Fox

The KVIK Hockey Arena holds just over 4,000 people, and a rink Herning Blue Fox has called home since 1988, when the club left Hall E at Herning Hallerne. Blue Fox Herning A/S, spun off in 1998 when the old amateur club, then still known as Herning Ishockey Klub, split its first team into a separate company and let the youth and amateur sides carry on under the original name.

The club had already won five Danish Championships under its old name by the time of that split, and has gone on to add twelve more since, seventeen in total, along with ten Danish Cups.

What the arena has produced matters as much as what it has won. Frans Nielsen came through the Blue Fox academy to become the first Dane to play in the NHL. Oliver Bjorkstrand followed a similar route out.

The two clubs have met repeatedly in finals over the decades, and it's that fixture, more than the ones against Odense Bulldogs or SønderjyskE, that Herning circles first.
