Hound Dogs

In 2019, with Gibraltar newly admitted to UEFA and its top division turning professional, Hound Dogs did something few clubs choose to do: they walked away from the Premier Division on their own terms, unable or unwilling to match the financial and competitive demands of the new setup, and dropped themselves into the Intermediate League, the third tier.

They had been there before, in a sense — formed in the summer of 2012 by Chris Gomez, Carl Bradford, David Bradford and Ercan Mehmet out of the wreckage of SJ Corinthians. The club started life in the Second Division that season and for years ran a strict rotation policy so that no squad member was left out of the team sheet for long.

Gomez stayed on as head coach through all of it — the rise, the retreat, six seasons in the third tier — thirteen years in charge in total. That spell ended in May 2025 , when the club secured a Silver License from the Gibraltar Football Association and earned promotion back to the Gibraltar Football League for 2025–26, with Ryan McCarthy brought in to replace him. Captain Harvey Welch remains from the years in the lower divisions.

The club still plays at Europa Point Stadium, a 2,000-capacity ground, in black shirts trimmed with white, and has yet to add the Premier Division, the Rock Cup or the Intermediate League title to its record.
