Every meeting with KGHM Zagłębie Lubin in the ORLEN Superliga carries the weight of the Dolnośląskie derby. KPR Kobierzyce has never finished above its rival in the championship itself.

The club traces its handball back to 1992, when Wojciech Duczek began running sessions for local players in the municipality; those groups were folded into the Student Sports Club Duet in 1996 before the association was formally registered under its own name in 1998. Promotion to the Superliga in 2016/2017 came almost by accident: Kobierzyce lost the play-off for a top-flight place to SPR Olkusz, only to be handed the spot anyway when Olkusz withdrew from the league.

Since 2019/2020, the club has collected a medal in six of seven seasons without ever taking gold — silver in 2020/2021 and 2023/2024, bronze in four others — and won the Polish Cup in 2021/2022. Matches are played in front of 800 seats at the Adam Wójcik Sports Hall, under colours of yellow and black, with backing that comes chiefly from the Municipality of Kobierzyce itself.
