Laktaši

The town's football tradition goes back to a club called LSK, formed in Laktaši in 1958. When the sport was picked up again in the town on 16 June 1974, it started under a new name, FK Laktaši, and that is the club still playing at Gradski Stadion.

The Bosnian War did not stop it. In September 1992 the club moved into the newly formed Football Association of Republika Srpska and carried on in the Second League, then found itself in the Third League after a reorganisation in 2000. Almost two decades on, in 2024–25, they won that title again.

Vinko Marinović is the name attached to the best of those years, 31 goals in 108 appearances between 2004 and 2008, before he went on to build a career as a manager. The club's cup record stays modest — a quarter-final in the Bosnian Cup in 2007–08 is as far as it went.

Known locally as Plavi, in blue and white, Laktaši measures itself against the neighbours: FK Kozara Gradiška and FK Omarska, meetings the region simply calls the "komšijski derbi" — the neighbourly derby. There is history and geography behind that fixture more than there is a trophy.
