Zvijezda 09

The title arrived in the 2017–18 season, when Zvijezda 09 topped the First League of the Republika Srpska, a second-tier campaign. A runners-up finish followed in 2022–23, and by 2023–24 the club had added a Republika Srpska Cup to go with it.

The club traces itself back to FK Zvijezda Brgule, a side from the village of Brgule that existed before Yugoslavia broke apart, and its re-establishment in 2009.

The ground itself changed hands in a way that reshaped football in the town. Ugljevik City Stadium belonged to FK Rudar Ugljevik, the older local club, until debts forced a court auction in 2017. Boris Stanišić, already the owner and president of Zvijezda 09, bought it, and Rudar dissolved soon after under the weight of what it owed. Zvijezda 09 took the stadium as its own.

Known to supporters as Zvijezde, the club plays in red shirts with black shorts. Its squads have leaned on local players and short loans from clubs across Bosnia and Serbia; Enedin Mulalić, on loan from FK Sarajevo and a youth international for Bosnia and Herzegovina, spent the 2023–24 season there. A junior academy feeds into the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
