Butarque holds 13,089 people, and the club does not own it. The stadium belongs to the municipality; in 2025 the club took it on a 50-year lease, and sponsorship has attached the name Ontime to it.

Leganés supplied cucumbers to Madrid from the 17th century, and Los Pepineros — the cucumber growers — has stuck since. The football club dates from 23 June 1928; the white shirt with vertical blue stripes was settled in 1954.

The Tercera title came in 1986, Segunda B in 1993, and promotion to La Liga only in 2016, after a second-place finish. Two seasons later came the night the club is still measured by: a Copa del Rey quarter-final at the Santiago Bernabéu, won 2-1, with Gonzalo García scoring in the 93rd minute to knock Real Madrid out. Leganés went on to the semi-finals.

They went down again in 2025.

Ownership has moved since. Blue Crow Sports took control in 2022; in 2026 a fund called 885 Capital bought 84.2% of the shares, with Eduardo Cosín as president. Álvaro Morata arrived on loan the same year.
