Liptovský Mikuláš

The Mestský futbalový štadión Milana Janeka holds a modest 2,000 people.

The club playing there began life on 22 June 1934 as ŠK Okoličné, in a village that only became part of Liptovský Mikuláš decades later, in 1972 — the merger that folded the village's name into the town's own and left the club known for a time as TJ Tatran Liptovský Mikuláš–Okoličné. A 1997 merger with the local military academy side brought "VA" into the title, and further rebrandings through the 2000s eventually settled, in 2010, on the current MFK Tatran Liptovský Mikuláš.

Promotion has come twice from the lower tiers — the Third League in 2006, the Second League in 2020/21 — and the second of those sent the club into the Niké Liga for the first time in its history. In the Slovak Cup, the furthest the club has reached is a quarter-final, in 2017/18.

Among the players who passed through, Erik Jendrišek stands out: he topped the Slovak league's scoring charts in 2005/06 before moves to Hannover and Bournemouth carried his career abroad.

The shirt has stayed red, black and white through all of it.
