Neftchi

Neftchi keep meeting the capital's sides in cup rounds and league deciders, and the confusion follows them around: there is a Bishkek team run by the same oil and gas company, Kyrgyzneftegaz, playing in blue and white, which is not this club.

The oil company has been behind the side since the beginning, and the ground carries the same idea in its name — Neftyanik, the oilman's stadium. The team was founded in 1960 and stayed in regional competition through the Soviet years, reaching the Kyrgyz top flight only in 1994.

In 2010 Neftchi won the championship under Aleksandr Krestinin, who was still playing while he managed them. Taalay Dzhumataev finished that season as the league's leading scorer with 15 goals.

The trophies since have come in knockout football rather than over a season: the Kyrgyz Cup in 2019 and again in 2021, with third place in the 2020 league in between.
