NEKA Women

NEKA has never really had a rival in the usual sense, and that says more about the club than any table: the academy in Balatonboglár exists to develop players between fourteen and twenty-one rather than to build a local feud, so when its women's team lines up against Ferencvárosi TC or Győri Audi ETO KC, it is a competitive mismatch by design.

What NEKA has instead is a pattern of arriving in the top flight and struggling to stay there. The women's side reached Nemzeti Bajnokság I for the first time in the 2020-2021 season, playing under the name Boglári Akadémia-SZISE alongside Szent István SE, and finished thirteenth. Relegation followed, then a second-division title brought them back for 2022-2023 under coaches Beáta Bohus and Beáta Siti, and they finished thirteenth out of fourteen again. They kept their place the following season only because Siófok KC was excluded from the league, not because they had earned it on the pitch. In May 2025, under head coach Botond Bakó, NEKA beat Tempo KSE 28-26 in the NB I/B final to earn another shot at the top division.

The senior team's results tell one story; the academy's youth sides tell another. NEKA's junior teams won the European Under-17 Championship in 2019 and the Under-19 title in 2021, production that matches the club's actual purpose better than any league finish does. Captain Lili Bató has carried that pipeline into the senior squad.

Home games are played at the NEKA Sportcsarnok, a hall built for a training centre rather than for crowds. Against Ferencváros or Győr, the disparity in resources and stature defines the club's position in the league.
