Petržalka Women

Petržalka's men's side traces its line back to 1898, but for 120 years the club had no home for women who wanted to play under its badge. That changed in 2018, when a women's team was set up from scratch inside FC Petržalka 1898, giving the Bratislava borough its own women's structure for the first time rather than reviving or absorbing an existing one.

The team entered the Slovak second division as a newcomer in its debut season, 2018/2019, and needed only two years to force its way into the top flight, I. liga žien, arriving in 2020/2021 with no prior top-division experience at all. By 2023/2024 it was still holding its place there, a modest but steady climb for a side that started with nothing.

Ivana Balážiková has run the team since at least the 2023/24 season, doubling as a playing coach rather than watching from the touchline, and she has stayed in charge through 2025/2026. Games are played at Štadión FC Petržalka 1898, a 1,500-seat ground opened in 2012 on the site of the old stadium it replaced, shared with the men's team along with the club's white-and-black colours.

What the women's side has not done is win anything. The list of I. liga žien champions runs through Slovan Bratislava, Spartak Myjava and Žilina among others; Petržalka's name is absent from it, and every trophy tied to the Petržalka badge belongs to the men's team alone.
