Rapid Wien II

In August 2014, Rapid Wien's board settled a naming question that had lingered for years: the reserve side, until then filed under the old amateur tag as SK Rapid Amateure, would carry the club's own name into the record books as SK Rapid Wien II. The team had already been turning out for over a decade by that point, entering the Austrian Cup as far back as the 2001/02 season, but the rebrand tied it more plainly to the first team it exists to feed.

That link shows in where the team plays. Rather than a stadium built for crowds, Rapid Wien II works out of the Körner Trainingszentrum, the training ground once known as Elektra-Platz, on Josef Fritsch-Weg in Vienna's second district — the same site the second string has called home across its various guises, holding 2,000 when the gates do open.

Promotion has come twice through the same route. Rapid Wien II topped the Regionalliga Ost in 2012/13, and did it again in 2023/24, each title lifting the side into Austria's second tier. The most recent promotion proved a harder adjustment than the first: in its 2023/24 campaign back in the 2. Liga, the team finished 11th, a mid-table return that reflected its role as a proving ground rather than a side built to chase the division's top end. An earlier honour, the Wiener Stadtliga, sits alongside the two Regionalliga Ost crowns in the club's record.

No separate identity ever grew around the reserves — no nickname of their own, just the green and white shared with the rest of SK Rapid Wien, sometimes noted s as Die Grün-Weißen. Two Regionalliga Ost titles, eleven years apart, remain the clearest marker of what the side has actually won.
