Mikheil Meskhi Stadium, in Tbilisi's Saburtalo district, holds 27,223 — a figure precise enough to account for the 112 seats set aside for VIP guests.

That name was not the one the club started with. Founded on 20 August 1999 as Iberia 1999, the club was bought in 2005 by the Iberia business group and its owner, Tariel Khechikashvili, who later served as Georgia's minister of sport. The takeover brought a rebrand to Saburtalo, after the district around the stadium. The club carried that name until February 2024, when it reverted to Iberia 1999.

The honours board reads as recent rather than deep: the Erovnuli Liga in 2018, 2024 and 2025, the Georgian Cup in 2019, 2021 and 2023, the Georgian Super Cup in 2020.

The academy has supplied the national team and clubs beyond Georgia. Giorgi Chanturia came through it between 2004 and 2010 before moving on to Vitesse, Hellas Verona and Ural. Davit Khocholava, at the club from 2004 to 2009, went on to Shakhtar Donetsk and Copenhagen; Giorgi Gocholeishvili followed a comparable path through Shakhtar, Copenhagen and Hamburg.
