Samgurali

Samgurali returned to the Erovnuli Liga after an 18-year absence. In 2022, their first full season back among the best, they finished fourth, matching what the club had managed in 1992/93.

In the 1992/93 season he scored 41 goals, still the Erovnuli Liga record for a single campaign, and he remains the club's leading scorer.

Tskaltubo's team started life in 1945 as Medic, a name that fits a spa town. Between 1983 and 1990 it played as Shadrevani-83, and it was under that name that the club won everything it won in the Soviet period: the Georgian SSR championship in 1983, 1985 and 1989, and the republic's cup in the last two of those years. The present name dates from 1990.

Between 2005 and 2009 there was no club at all. Money ran out, Samgurali folded, and it was only re-established in 2010.

Home is the 26 May Stadium, named for Georgia's independence day. Rebuilding work from 2018 put individual seats in, which cut the capacity to 3,500.

The visit that fills it is Samtredia, from 30 kilometres away in the same Imereti region; the fixture is known as the Imeretian derby.

Three David Kipiani Cup finals have come and gone without a win — 1999, then 2020 and 2021 in quick succession.
