Santo Domingo

It was registered on 2 August 2015. Two years later it traded under the name Deportivo Santo Domingo IK9, with Jaime Iván Caviedes, one of the better-known Ecuadorian forwards of his generation, brought in as investor and public face of the project. The bigger shift came in 2025, when local investors bought the club's place in LigaPro Serie B from Vargas Torres, the Esmeraldas side that could no longer afford to keep it. By March 2026 that franchise had been renamed Sociedad Deportivo Santo Domingo, while the original legal entity was folded into a separate structure, Academia Niño Moi 23 — a name chosen for Moisés Caicedo, the Chelsea midfielder who grew up in the city and has been putting money into football there since his move to England.

Home games are played at the Estadio Olímpico Etho Vega, which holds 10,172, with the team turned out in red shirts trimmed in green, red shorts and red socks. Domestically it has never gone further than the provincial level: five titles in the Segunda Categoría de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, in 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026, with two attempts at the national play-off for Serie B promotion, in 2021 and 2023, both falling short. Its best-known result came in the 2025 Copa Ecuador, where it knocked out Serie A side Delfín in the round of 32 before losing in the next round. Five provincial championships in six years, and still no Serie B football to show for it.
