Semendrija 1924

Semendrija 1924 spent last season winning the Serbian League West, one of the three regional third-tier groups, and that title carried it up into the Serbian First League, where it sits now among the country's second-tier clubs out of Smederevo. The step up follows a period the club needed to climb back through after years spent lower down the pyramid.

The name itself is the newest thing about the club. What plays today as Semendrija 1924 carries the identity of FK Smederevo, formed through a 2014 merger with FK Seljak from the nearby village of Mihajlovac. The merged side wore the Semendrija 1924 name for a single season before reverting to Smederevo '24 in January 2015, but the club dates itself to 1924, when chief engineer Ernest Radlinski set it up under the name FK Sartid.

The one trophy that still gets talked about locally is the Serbia and Montenegro Cup, won in the 2002–03 final against Crvena Zvezda, 1-0. It remains the club's single national title, and it came a year after the same fixture had gone the other way, a Cup final loss to the same opponent in 2001–02.

Milorad Zečević is the name attached longest to the shirt: 240 appearances and 39 goals across a decade at the club from 2000. Among those who passed through on the way to bigger things was Mateja Kežman, before the striker built his career elsewhere.

Home games are played at the Smederevo stadium, known locally as the Fortress, which holds 17,200. Beyond the 2003 Cup, a national league title has stayed out of reach.
