Geneva-Servette needed until 2023 to win a Swiss championship, beaten 4-3 in the final.
The club's hockey side began in 1905 as a section of Servette FC, and only became Genève-Servette HC in 1963, after merging with the hockey arm of Urania Genève Sport. Home games are played in front of 7,135 spectators at the Patinoire des Vernets, opened in 1958 and rebuilt in 2009. The team wears grenat and yellow, and is known as Les Grenats, though some still call them Les Aigles.
Across the border of the Röstigraben lies Fribourg-Gottéron, and the meetings between the two form the Derby Romand.
Valtteri Filppula was central to the 2023 title.
