The mills gave the town its work.

It took eight years to get out of the second tier. The Segunda División title in 2015 carried Ureña into the top flight for the first time, and the club has spent the years since moving between the two.

The second promotion, in 2023, came the hard way — a two-legged final against Bolívar settled 4-2 on aggregate, with Adolfo Monsalve in charge. Monsalve's side had to win it over 180 minutes rather than in one afternoon, and that is the run the town remembers: a straight knockout, and Ureña back in the first division.

Home is the Estadio Alfonso "Culebro" Rojas, a ground with a listed capacity of 42,500 — a figure far beyond anything the club's crowds ask of it.

Ronaldi Contreras, Edwin Culagüiri and Wilmer Sánchez were among those who started it. Nineteen years on, the task is the one the club has faced since 2015: staying up rather than climbing again.
