Vermont Green

Burlington had been without a senior side since the Vermont Voltage folded in 2014; the group behind Vermont Green — Matthew Wolff, Patrick Infurna, Sam Glickman and Keil Corey among them — built the replacement around environmental justice rather than a promotion ladder, and the USL League Two announced them as a member on 12 October 2021. They kicked off in May 2022.

Virtue Field, on the Archie Post Athletic Complex, seats around 2,500 and sells out on the strength of a summer college league. The bigger surprise is what happened on the pitch: national championships in 2025 and 2026, both won without losing a match, either side of a Hank Steinbrecher Cup and three straight Maple Cups. The league named the club its Organization of the Year in 2023 and again in 2025, an award for what happens off the field, which is where the founders started.

In December 2025 the Vermont Congressional Delegation, Senator Bernie Sanders included, tabled a resolution congratulating the club on the first of those titles. A women's side entered the USL W League in 2026 under Abby Carchio and took the Eastern Conference and Northeast Division in its first season, reaching the national final.

Chris Taylor, promoted to the men's job in 2025, has since sent players on to MLS debuts — Zack Zengue at St. Louis CITY SC, Enzo Dovlo at Atlanta United. But the name Burlington will keep longest is Jeremy Francou, who scored 18 in 2026 and broke the club's single-season record.
