Wisla Plock

The Orlen Stadion im. Kazimierza Górskiego takes its current name from the refinery company that has bankrolled the club for years, and the ground itself carries that industrial identity through a full rebuild finished in 2023, which brought capacity to 15,004. Before the sponsor's name attached itself to the stadium, it already carried the name of Kazimierz Górski, the coach who took the Polish national team to Olympic gold and a World Cup semi-final — a name the club kept even as everything around it changed.

Everything around it did change. Wisła Płock started out in 1947 as Elektryczność Płock, a works team tied to the town's power industry, and over the following decades passed through several names — Ogniwo, Sparta, Petrochemia, Petro, Orlen — before the club settled on ZKS Wisła Płock in 2002. The nickname stuck regardless: Nafciarze, the oil workers.

The club's one real trophy run came in 2005/06, when Wisła won the Polish Cup and followed it with the Super Cup that same year — a period that also saw them finish fourth in the Ekstraklasa in 2004/05, their best league placing. Three attempts at the UEFA Cup in the mid-2000s all ended the same way, out in the second qualifying round, and the club has spent long stretches since shuttling between the top flight and the second tier.

They are back in the Ekstraklasa now on the strength of winning the 2024/25 I liga play-offs, and the job at Orlen Stadion this season is simply to stay there.
