The path there began a long way from Goiânia. Henrique Freitas Alves — known in Brazil simply as Henrique Freitas — was born in Teresina, in the north-eastern state of Piauí. He came through the academy at Três Passos and worked his way into the first team there, the club that would remain the reference point of his early career.
Two loan spells followed. Between 2019 and 2020 he was sent to Sampaio Corrêa, the Maranhão club then competing in Série B — his first exposure to that level. In June 2021 he moved again on loan, this time to Veranópolis.
He later joined Barra-SC in Santa Catarina, where he stayed until the 2026 transfer. As a holding midfielder, the role he has occupied throughout, he arrived in Goiânia with that grounding in the state and second-tier game rather than with a name made in the top flight.
