About the player
Josh Doig came up through Hearts' youth ranks before crossing Edinburgh to join Hibernian in 2019, and it was there that he made his name, breaking into the first team and picking up the SFWA Young Player of the Year award for 2020/21 as well as a place in the SPFL Premiership Team of the Season. He reached cup finals with Hibernian in both the Scottish Cup and the League Cup.
That form took him to Italy in July 2022, when Hellas Verona signed him for Serie A. He spent a season and a half there before Sassuolo signed him in January 2024. Doig became part of the side that won the Serie B title in 2024–25 and returned Sassuolo to Serie A. He has made 48 appearances for the club, with one goal to his name.
Internationally, Doig worked his way up through the Scotland age groups, from a single U18 cap in 2019 to a longer run with the U21s, where he scored once in twelve appearances between 2021 and 2024. The senior call finally came in June 2025, when he was brought on as a substitute against Liechtenstein in a 4–0 win, earning his first cap for the national side.
