About the player
Paik Seung-ho scored a goal against Brazil in the Round of 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup: a long-range strike that was nominated for the FIFA Goal of the Tournament award. It was one of three goals he has scored in 30 senior caps for South Korea, where he has been a fixture since 2019.
He joined FC Barcelona's La Masia academy in 2010, after time at Seoul Daedong Elementary School and the Suwon Samsung Bluewings academy. He stayed until 2016 and made two appearances for Barcelona B in 2016–17. He then moved to CF Peralada, Girona's reserve side, and played 55 times there across two seasons. Promotion to Girona's first team came in 2019, but it brought only six official appearances, three in La Liga and three in the Copa del Rey.
Darmstadt 98 signed him in August 2019. In March 2021 he returned to South Korea and joined Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors for a reported €750,000. Jeonbuk won the K League 1 in 2021 and the Korean FA Cup in 2022, and he made 106 appearances and scored 11 goals. In between, he won gold with South Korea at the 2022 Asian Games, having also played for the country at U20 and U23 levels.
He left Jeonbuk as a free agent in January 2024 and signed for Birmingham City. The club won the EFL League One title and he was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year. He has since made 110 appearances for the club and scored seven goals.
