Sidnei Wilson Vieira David Tavares

Sidnei Tavares was nine when he moved from a local side, Carib SSFC, into the Leicester City academy. He stayed there for a decade, signed his first professional contract in 2019 and made his senior debut in February 2021 in the UEFA Europa League. Two Premier League appearances followed in March of the same year.

Leicester released him that year, and he took the route back to Portugal. Porto signed him on a free transfer to play for their B team in Liga Portugal 2, where he made 38 appearances across three seasons. In 2023 he was loaned to Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer and played five matches there.

The move that returned him to the top flight came in the summer of 2024, when Moreirense signed him for a reported fee of about €2.0 million. He played 29 league games for the club in the Primeira Liga and scored once. A defensive midfielder who is right-footed and stands 188 cm.

On 20 June 2025 he joined Blackburn Rovers on a three-year contract, with reports putting the fee between roughly €1.73 million and €2.0 million. He wore the number 8 shirt in the 2025–26 season. For 2026–27 he was loaned to the Polish club Wisła Płock, where he has taken the number 5.

Tavares holds Portuguese nationality and is also eligible to play for Cape Verde. He has represented Portugal at youth level, winning six caps for the under-18 side in 2018 and 2019 and two for the under-19 side in 2019. He has yet to win a senior cap for either country.
