About the player
He arrived from Górnik Zabrze in September 2025 on a season-long loan with a mandatory purchase clause. The clause was set at €1.2 million. Lech initially pushed back, then agreed to a fee slightly over €1 million. The loan was controversial, coming after a spell at Górnik in which his performances had not convinced.
His route to Poland ran through Norway. He began at Hype Buzz Academy in Abuja and played for HB Abuja until 2019, when he moved to Skeid. Skeid were relegated, and in November 2020 he joined Fredrikstad. His 2021 season there brought the awards: Norwegian First Division Young Player of the Month for September, and Young Player of the Year for the whole campaign.
Lorient signed him in January 2022, but much of his time with the French club was spent elsewhere. He went on loan to Vålerenga in Norway in 2022, then to Beveren in Belgium from 2022 to 2024, where he made 51 appearances and scored seven goals. In July 2024 he signed for Górnik Zabrze, the club that later sent him to Lech.
After the title, Ismaheel moved on again. In August 2026 he joined Qarabağ of Azerbaijan for a reported fee of €1 million.
