Génération Foot

The team plays out of Thiès rather than its home city, at Stade Lat-Dior, a ground with room for 8,712 that sits an hour or so from Dakar. The distance from the capital has never mattered much to what the club is known for: an academy set up in 2000 by Mady Touré, who named it after his father, Amara Touré. Sadio Mané came through it, and so did Ismaïla Sarr and Pape Matar Sarr.

That export model runs through a partnership with FC Metz, in place since 2003 and renewed twice since, which gave the Senegalese side its nickname, Les Grenats, shared with the French club whose colours it wears.

On the pitch, Génération Foot has taken the Ligue 1 title three times, in 2016–17, 2018–19 and 2022–23, and paired the first of those with the Trophée des Champions and Super Cup double the same year.
