The New Oval holds 2,000 spectators, a tight ground on Anglesey that Holyhead Hotspur moved into in 2007, trading an older home for a stand close enough to the pitch to make the place feel smaller than the number suggests.

The club did not arrive at its current form through a single founding moment. Formed in 1990, it took its lasting shape in 1996, when four local sides merged with Holyhead Hotspur to produce a senior team and a reserve side; a year later the junior club Holyhead Peibio Youth joined the set-up, adding a pipeline into the first team that the club still draws on.

Three Welsh Alliance League titles run through the club's history — 1997-98, 2011-12 and 2019-20 — but the middle one carries the most detail. In 2011-12 Holyhead Hotspur won the league along with the Cookson Cup and the Barritt Cup, a treble that stopped one trophy short of four when Sully Sports beat them 1-2 in the FAW Trophy final. The New Oval would have hosted a quadruple-winning side; instead it hosted a team that fell just short of one.

Jay Gibbs played through that title-winning season, scoring 10 goals in 35 appearances, then left the club before returning for a second spell between 2015 and 2018.
