What became the city's club grew out of one of them, Dynamo, and 1960 is the year that counts — the season the side stepped up into the Soviet Class B.

The name changed almost as often as the division. Dynamo until 1975, then Khvylya for three seasons, then Podillya from 1978 — the name of the historical region the city sits in, and the one that stuck. A short spell as Nord-AM-Podillya in the early 1990s lasted a year.

The best of the Soviet years came in 1966, second place in the Ukrainian SSR's Second League, followed three years later by a run to the final of the republic's cup.

Vitaliy Kvartsyanyi took them out of the Second League in 1997.

Home is the Sportcomplex "Podillya", 6,806 seats, white at home and blue away.

In 2023–24 Podillya finished second in the relegation group and kept their place only through a play-off against Kolos-2 Kovalivka.
