Tacoma Stars

Two PASL-Premier titles sit at the centre of the Tacoma Stars’ identity, earned in summers and winters separated by a decade of rebuilding. The 2004 triumph in the PASL-Premier was not merely a victory. The second came in 2010, when the club, then navigating a different league structure, held on grimly through a tense final to claim the double. These honours are not listed in a vacuum. They mark the peaks of a franchise that has survived three distinct incarnations, each born from the ashes of the last.

The original Stars arrived in 1983, stepping onto the concrete floor of the Tacoma Dome under John Best. They played in the Major Indoor Soccer League until 1992, leaving behind a legacy that included Preki. When the league folded, the team vanished. It returned in 2003 in the Premier Arena Soccer League, only to collapse again. The current iteration began in 2014 under Lane Smith, transitioning from indoor dominance to outdoor survival in USL League Two.

White and navy blue provide the visual thread through these changes. While the indoor era produced the majority of their silverware, the 2023 NASSC U.S. Men's Open Division Championship showed that the spirit of competition had not faded. The club no longer shares its city with the Seattle SeaDogs, their old rivals from the mid-1990s.
