Spartak thrash Rostov 3-0 as Krasnodar stumble
Spartak eased past Rostov with goals from Massalyga, Zhedson and Solari, while leaders Krasnodar were held 1-1 at home by Akron in round 8 of the RPL.
Spartak thrashed Rostov 3-0 in round 8 of the Russian Premier League. Massalyga and Zhedson were on target, Solari converted from the penalty spot, and Rostov's Kuchaev was sent off.
The result came a week after Spartak lost 2-1 to city rivals Dinamo in the Moscow derby, when an early goal from Danil Prutsev was overturned by a second-half fightback from the home side.
Krasnodar were held 1-1 at home by Akron.
Akhmat came from behind twice to beat Dinamo Makhachkala 3-2 at home, with Keliano scoring the winner on the 85th minute.
Krasnodar remain top of the table with 20 points from 8 rounds. Spartak, Dinamo and CSKA sit four points back, and Zenit are five adrift. Lokomotiv are 13th.
Manchester City extend their run
Manchester United lost 0-1 at home to Manchester City in round 4 of the Premier League. Erling Haaland's goal was allowed to stand after a VAR review that the league later admitted had been wrong.
United have won just 1 of their opening 4 league games and sit 13th. City have now won 5 straight since their heavy defeat to Arsenal.
Barcelona and Atletico win on the road
Alexei Batrakov provided his first assist for Galatasaray. The Russian midfielder came on as a substitute against Kocaelispor and set up Abdulkerim Bardakci.
Krasnodar's dropped points leave the door open at the top. If Spartak keep winning at this rate, the four-point gap could close quickly over the coming rounds.
