Domingos Duarte

Duarte's route to Getafe ran through three loan spells before anything settled. He came through Sporting CP's academy after starting out at Estoril Praia, made his senior debut with the reserve side in the Segunda Liga, and was then sent out in succession to Belenenses, Chaves and Deportivo de La Coruña, the last of those in the Segunda División. None of the loans produced a permanent move — Deportivo chose not to exercise its option to buy — and Duarte returned to Sporting each time. The move that changed things came in 2019, when Granada signed him permanently for around €3 million, with Sporting keeping a 25% sell-on interest. He made 86 league appearances over three seasons, before the club's relegation at the end of 2021-22 sent him back into the market. Getafe paid €1 million for him that July, a fee split between Sporting and Granada under the terms of the earlier sell-on clause. He has since made over a hundred league appearances for the club. At youth level, Duarte was named to the Team of the Tournament at the 2014 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. His senior international career has been brief: three caps for Portugal between 2020 and 2021, starting with a friendly against Andorra, and a place in the preliminary squad for the 2022 World Cup that did not survive the final cut.
