Gonçalo Bernardo Inácio

Gonçalo Inácio has spent his entire senior career at Sporting CP, having joined the club's academy in 2012 after starting out at Almada A.C. He signed his first professional contract with Sporting in January 2018 and made his senior debut in October 2020. He renewed his contract with the club as recently as December 2025, extending his stay until 2030.

Under his watch, Sporting have won the Primeira Liga three times, added two Taça da Liga titles and a Supertaça, and lifted the Taça de Portugal in 2024–25 after beating Benfica 3–1 in extra time. That run of success has been matched by individual recognition: Inácio was named to the Primeira Liga Team of the Year in both 2023–24 and 2024–25, and was named the league's Defender of the Month in December 2021.

His performances at club level have not gone unnoticed further afield, with reported interest from Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona over the years, though none of those links have produced a move.

At international level, Inácio made his senior debut for Portugal in March 2023 in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Liechtenstein. Six months later, away to Luxembourg, he scored the first and fourth goals in a 9–0 win — the only two goals of his international career so far. He was part of the Portugal squad that won the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League, beating Spain on penalties in the final after the match finished 2–2.
