Luis Suárez did not force his way into Watford's first team at all — three years at the English club produced no appearances, only a string of loans around Spain. It was on those loans, at Real Valladolid B, Gimnàstic de Tarragona and Real Zaragoza, that the Colombian built the goal return that eventually earned him a permanent move to Granada CF, where he scored 13 goals in 64 appearances before the club's relegation in 2022.

A step up to Olympique de Marseille that summer did not work out. Suárez managed only seven league appearances and three goals before being sent out on loan to UD Almería in December 2022. That loan turned out to be the making of him: four goals in the second half of the season helped Almería avoid relegation, and the run was strong enough to trigger an €8 million buy clause. He stayed on and, in the 2024–25 season, finished as the Segunda División's top scorer with 27 goals, taking the Pichichi Trophy.

The move to Sporting CP in July 2025 raised the stakes again, and this time Suárez answered immediately. In his debut season in Lisbon he scored 28 goals and finished as the Primeira Liga's top scorer.

At international level, Suárez made his senior debut for Colombia in November 2020 against Uruguay and has since won 17 caps, scoring five goals. He has yet to add a major team trophy to his career.
