Hugo Sandoval

Hugo Sandoval spent years earning his current billing the long way, moving between Paraguayan and Argentine clubs before a loan to Olimpia turned him into a notable striker. Born in Ciudad del Este, he made his senior debut with Club 3 de Febrero in 2018 and stayed there until a switch to Club Nacional in 2021. He returned to 3 de Febrero in 2023, this time in the División Intermedia, where he finished among the competition's top scorers.

A move to Argentina followed in 2024, with a season at Club Atlético Guillermo Brown in the Primera Nacional. It was back home in Paraguay, though, at Deportivo Recoleta in 2025, where his numbers jumped: eight goals in 1,472 minutes, a return that put him on the radar of the country's biggest clubs.

Olimpia signed him on loan with an option to buy in January 2026, presenting him under the nickname "El Tanque del Este". The move paid off quickly. In the first half of the 2026 season, Sandoval became the club's joint-top scorer with seven goals across the Apertura, Clausura, Copa Sudamericana and Copa Paraguay, level with Adrián Alcaraz. Olimpia have not lost a single match in which he has scored — seven wins from seven. By September 2026, he had added five goals and an assist in 20 league appearances.

Sandoval has yet to be capped by Paraguay's senior national team, though his form at club level has kept his name in that conversation.
