About the player
Leonel Marcelo Picco arrived at Remo in February 2026 as the most expensive signing in the club's history. The defensive midfielder, born in Wilde, Buenos Aires, had built his reputation gradually rather than through a single breakthrough moment, working his way up from the Argentine second division to a title with Platense in the space of a few seasons.
Picco turned professional at Arsenal de Sarandí, making his debut in March 2019, and was part of the squad that won the Primera B Nacional that season and earned promotion to the top flight. He left the club in 2022 for Colón, but it was a loan spell at Platense, later made permanent, that defined his career in Argentina. He started in the final as Platense beat Huracán 1–0 to win the 2025 Apertura, having also finished on the losing side in the 2023 Primera División final and the 2025 Trofeo de Campeones.
Standing at 192 cm, his move to Remo came with a contract running to the end of 2028, giving the Brazilian club a long-term commitment alongside the record fee. He has not represented Argentina at senior or youth international level.
