Lucas Velásquez

Lucas Velásquez made his professional debut on 9 February 2025, in a Copa Chile match against O'Higgins, capping a path through Huachipato's academy that began in 2019, when he was scouted while playing for Huachipato Puerto Montt and local school teams. He worked his way up through the Sub-17 and Sub-20 sides before being promoted straight to the first team.

Born in Puerto Varas, the left-footed defender operates primarily at left-back, though he has also featured as a left wing-back and on the left of midfield. Some databases listed him early on as a forward, but lineups and club data have since settled on left-back as his position.

Velásquez was part of the Huachipato squad that won the Copa Chile in 2025, beating Deportes Limache in the final at Estadio El Teniente in Rancagua on 10 December, a result that sent the club into the 2026 Copa Libertadores. He had started recent matches in the run-up to the final, against U. La Calera and Deportes Temuco, and his form had put him among the candidates for a starting place in the final itself, even though pre-match predictions had left him out of the XI.
