Martín Barrios do Santos

Martín Barrios do Santos joined Platense on loan from Racing Club de Avellaneda in January 2026, arriving without a purchase option and taking the number 24 shirt. Born in Montevideo, he came through Racing Club de Montevideo, making his professional debut there in 2018 and staying until 2021, a spell that brought around 83 appearances and six goals. A short stint at Albion followed in 2022 before he moved to Liverpool FC of Montevideo in January 2023, the club where his career reached its peak in South American terms. With Liverpool he won the Uruguayan Primera División title in 2023 and added the Supercopa Uruguaya in both 2023 and 2024, appearing 54 times in the league and a further 12 times in the Copa Libertadores.

His move to Racing Club in Argentina brought continental silverware: he was part of the squad that won the 2024 Copa Sudamericana and followed it with the 2025 Recopa Sudamericana. His playing time at Racing was more limited than at Liverpool, with 11 league appearances in 2024 and 28 in 2025.

At youth international level, Barrios represented Uruguay at the 2019 South American U-20 Championship and the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, scoring twice for the U-20 side across his caps for that age group. He has not featured for the senior national team.
