Dubnica

Marcel Hanzal and Martin Cingel both left the Zimný štadión in Dubnica nad Váhom for careers in the Slovak Extraliga, part of a longer list that runs through Peter Kotlárik, Miroslav Kristín and Michal Belica.

The club itself has worn seven different names since it started out in 1942 as ŠK Dubnica nad Váhom. It became Sokol Škoda Dubnica in 1949, then Spartak ZŤS Dubnica, then HK Dubnica in 2000 and MHK Dubnica in 2007, before reverting in 2020 to HK Spartak Dubnica nad Váhom.

Promotion to the Extraliga came once, in 1993–94, when Dubnica won the Slovak 1. Liga for the first of three times; the second and third followed in 1998–99 and 2003–04. Further back, before the Extraliga existed as such, the club took the second-tier title in back-to-back seasons, 1978–79 and 1979–80. None of the spells at the top lasted, and Dubnica has spent most of its recent history working its way up from the third tier, winning the Slovak 2. Liga in 2013–14 and 2016–17.

The fixture that still matters most is against Dukla Trenčín.
