The Gyergyószentmiklósi Műjégpálya holds 1,480. The club has skated there since long before it carried its current name.

Founded in 1949, the club spent most of its history under different names — Progym Apicom Gheorgheni, then CS Progym Gheorgheni — before the 2018 rebrand to Gyergyói HK. The Erste Liga title arrived in 2022–23, then again in 2024–25 — and that second season turned into a sweep: the Romanian Hockey League, the Romanian Cup, and the Romanian Super Cup all followed the same year.

Zsolt Kozma carried the identity of the club through its leaner years, retiring in 2024 as its all-time leader with 654 games played.

The rivalry with HSC Csíkszereda, contested as the Székely Derby, remains the fixture that matters most locally, sharpened by geography as much as by the standings.
