Kladno

Kladno beat Spartak Moscow in the 1976/77 final, the season sitting right in the middle of that run of domestic championships. The first of the six, in 1958/59, stood apart from the rest by nearly two decades.

The club began life in 1924 as the hockey department of SK Kladno. By 2014 it had dropped into the second-tier Chance Liga.

Jaromír Jágr took control in 2011, renamed the club Rytíři Kladno — the Knights — and set about rebuilding it from the second tier up. He sold an 80 percent stake to businessman Tomáš Drastil in January 2025, closing out his time as owner of the club he had once returned to as a player.

Since coming back to the top flight, the club has not recaptured the old championship form; its best finish in the independent Czech Extraliga remains a third place from 1993/94. The rivalry with Sparta Praha still draws the sharpest attention in Kladno, a derby with no love lost, with Slavia Praha a lesser but familiar opponent.
