Mikkelin Jukurit

The name comes from the Finnish for trolls, and fans shortened it long ago to Jukkurit. It was two Mikkeli clubs, Mikkelin Palloilijat and Mikkelin Pallo-Kissot, that combined their hockey sections to form the team in 1970, before it became a limited company under the name Jukurit HC Oy in 2009.

In the Liiga, the club has not repeated the Mestis dominance, but it came close in 2021–22, finishing second in the regular season with 166 points under head coach Olli Jokinen. A year later, Jukurit reached the quarter-finals of the Champions Hockey League, beating Fribourg-Gottéron along the way before Luleå HF stopped them.

Games against KalPa Kuopio carry the weight of the Savon derby, the fiercest of the club's regional meetings, with SaiPa Savonlinna and KooKoo adding the wider South-East rivalries that fill out the season's calendar.

The closest the club has come remains that runners-up finish in 2021–22.
