Olomouc HC

The Zimní stadion in Olomouc holds 5,500, split between 3,800 seats and 1,700 standing behind the boards.

The club spent decades under other names — Spartak Moravia, then TJ Moravia DS, then TJ DS — before settling on HC Olomouc in 1992. Its best season came two years later: the 1993–94 Extraliga title.

Olomouc sold its top-flight licence in 1997, then its second-tier licence in 1999, and senior hockey vanished from the city for two years. The rebuild from 2001 took over a decade to produce anything: promotion back to the Extraliga arrived only in 2013–14, and staying there has proved harder than getting there — play-down survivals in 2021–22, 2023–24 and 2024–25 read less like a club consolidating and more like one holding on by its fingertips each spring.

Jiří Dopita played here between 1987 and 1993 and later returned as majority shareholder and coach, which gives the club one of the few threads connecting its Extraliga peak to its present ownership. Games against HC Kometa Brno are billed as the Moravian Derby, the fixture that still draws the old red-and-white crowd back to the standing terraces under the Roosters' banner.
