Stjernen

Ørjan Løvdal and Morten Finstad wore the same colours for Stjernen before their numbers were retired in 2015, number 12 and number 18.

The team grew out of a boys' club called The Stars, founded in Fredrikstad in 1959. Supporters call it Løvehjertet, the Lionheart, a name tied to the lion mascot and to Stjernehallen's own nickname, Løvens hule — the Lion's Den. The financial strain of the late 1990s and early 2000s left its mark too: a 15-point deduction in 2008–09 for licence violations forced the club to rebuild its structure, and in 2010 Stjernen split into an elite senior side and a youth wing to keep both ends of the operation stable.

None of that has settled the rivalry with Sparta Sarpsborg, whose meetings still draw the region in for the Østfold derby, where the league table goes out of the window. Stjernen's most recent silverware came in 2021–22, a bronze medal that showed the club competing again after years of trying to find its footing.

Løvdal remains the name attached to that era more than any other — a Stjernen player through the championship near-misses of the 1990s, and one of only two men in the club's history whose number will not be worn again.
